Why it matters

Your photographs are the only part of the day you actually keep.

The venue will not invite you back for a picnic. The food gets eaten, the flowers become mulch, the dress hangs quietly in a wardrobe. After all that planning, the celebration itself runs about eight hours.

What is left is your spouse, a strangely well-preserved piece of cake, and your photographs. That is a lot of weight for one job to carry, and it is exactly why I take it as seriously as I do.

The film option

Some of your day, shot on 35mm.

Film does something to skin, to colour, to the way a room feels that I have never managed to fake in a raw file. A few rolls through the day gives your gallery a second texture entirely — softer, slower, and unmistakably of the moment it was taken.

Three rolls, developed and scanned at high resolution, delivered alongside your digital frames.

There aren’t enough words to describe our gratitude for Josh and his phenomenal photography of our wedding day. Josh’s passion and skill is unmatched and the way that he was able to photograph our day in a way that conveys exactly how each moment felt - rather than just looked - left us in awe and has now allowed us to look back on images and vividly remember what a special day we had. Josh made us feel completely at ease throughout the whole day with not one moment feeling forced or staged, and as a result our photos turned out natural, raw and beautiful and the experience was so relaxed and enjoyable. In addition to his incredible photographic and professionalism skills, Josh brought warmth and humour to our day and made not only us feel comfortable, but our guests as well. We couldn’t imagine anyone else having captured our wedding and we recommend him in the absolute highest capacity. Thanks so much legend for capturing images that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Josh, Josh, Josh...right from our very first meeting your genuine passion and love for love and what you do was so obvious. Your preference for fly on the wall candid's and capturing the true, unscripted emotions of our wedding day, without magazine edits was exactly what we were looking for and every one of our photos have turned out perfectly. Our photobook has arrived this afternoon and we both absolutely love it!

5 stars seems inadequate, but that is as high as Google will allow. 12/10. We can't thank you enough for capturing the memories of our wedding the way you have, so that we can keep them fresh for a lifetime to come.

Joshua was incredible from the moment we first contacted him. Very responsive and flexible - travelling all the way to the Blue Mountains from the Gold Coast to capture our special day. You might think an interstate photographer was a big risk for us to take during COVID times but our hearts were set on him and his style. We knew he was worth the risk and he had organised a contingency plan so there was never an anxious moment.

Joshua not only took some beautiful photos (a sneak preview sent promptly following the wedding) but became part of the day, taking time to get to know us, our friends and family. I reckon this is what sets him apart - making us all feel comfortable around him = natural, beautiful photos which live up to his tag line, “capturing how it felt”.

Word of advice: make sure he’s around for sunset. He knows how to get that sparkle.

I don’t know what else to say except that we are so pleased, not just with the photos but for sharing our day with him. Cannot recommend Joshua enough.

Josh was a fantastic photographer. He was the first vendor I booked in once we knew our date as I loved his work and had always known he’d be the one to shoot our wedding.

We had a very small wedding and Josh’s photos made it seem larger than life. He took pictures that really encapsulated the day and showed the love and excitement between us and our families. He got the pictures back to us on a really easy to navigate site, and had previews to us less than 12 hours after he’d gone home. We added on film and I’m so glad I did as they are gorgeous additions to our photos.

He really nailed the vision I had and was so easy to communicate with on the day. His directions were so easy to follow and for many of my family who don’t love to be in front of the camera this was greatly appreciated. All of the photos are so natural and fluid and it feels like a Pinterest fairytale board come to life.

Im not a particularly emotional person but I nearly cried when I saw the pictures.

Thank you Josh! I cannot recommend you enough.

Before you ask

The questions that come up most.

How far ahead should we book?

Most couples book 12 to 18 months out. I take a limited number of weddings each year so I can give every one of them proper attention, so Byron Bay dates in peak season tend to go early. If your date is close, ask anyway — sometimes it works.

Do you travel beyond Byron Bay?

Constantly. The Northern Rivers and the Gold Coast are home ground, and I have shot weddings and elopements across Australia and overseas. Travel beyond the region is quoted on the day and the distance, not a fixed fee.

We are awkward in front of a camera. Is that a problem?

Almost everyone says this, and it is almost never true by the end of the day. I am not going to run you through a shot list or arrange you on a bed of roses. I document what is actually happening, which means most of the day you will forget I am working. A couple session beforehand helps if you would like the practice.

When do we get our photos?

Up to a month for the full edited gallery. If you have booked film, those frames can take a little longer depending on the lab.

How does payment work?

Simple as I can make it. You sign the booking form, I invoice the deposit, and the balance is due one month before the day.
